SmarTargeting: The Southwest
Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico

In 2004, LCV Education Fund asked Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and Stratalys Research to engage in a project designed to locate potential environmental activists in the Southwest (SW).  Using SmarTargeting techniques, we employed enhanced voter files that included information such as voting frequency, census data, and consumer data to conduct a large sample survey gauging attitudes about the environment.  Using these data sets, we created a model that helped us identify potential environmental activists in New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. The modeling results were then applied back to the enhanced voter files allowing us to assign every voter in New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada a performance score indicating how likely they are to be an environmental activist, meaning we can identify environmental activists specifically by name and address.  LCV Education Fund now has complete access to lists of potential activists around which it can design a range of different issue and advocacy campaigns.
